Coconut Hibiscus Peppermint Shampoo w/Rosemary (version 4)
~18oz (measurements in volume, which is easier for this type of recipe)
I love Dr. Woods Liquid Castile Peppermint soap. It is easily the quickest way to create your own gentle shampoos.
PHASE A
3oz 6 TBSP Hibiscus infused water (tea)
0.5oz 1 TBSP Coconut Milk Powder (powder version doesn’t go bad as easily)
PHASE B
12oz 1.5 Cups Dr. Woods Castile Soap (I use peppermint)
1/4tsp Neodefend
PHASE C
0.5oz 1 TBSP Olive Oil
0.5oz 1 TBSP Avocado oil
0.5oz 1 TBSP Beet Sugar extract (use Glycerin if you don’t have)
5 drops Peppermint Essential oil
10 drops Rosemary Essential oil
2ml Peppermint Fragrance oil (optional)
1oz 2 TBSP NatureSilk + 8 chopstick-end sized amounts of Guar Gum (to thicken and increase slip)

INSTRUCTIONS
Preparation Required
#Create your hibiscus tea by adding hot water over a few dried hibiscus flowers.
#Let steep for 20 minutes.
# The more dried flowers you add, the darker your hibiscus tea will be.
# Strain.
Continue below:
# Put PHASE A into a bowl (plastic, glass, whatever)
# Stir well. If you’re using Neodefend (a powdered preservative), MAKE SURE it is dissolved completely. If you’re using a liquid preservative which is oil soluble (like original Optiphen), add it to your oils 1st
# All powders should be dissolved well in the tea before you add your Dr. Woods Castile
# Add all your PHASE B ingredients and stir well.
MY NOTES
# I love Dr. Woods Liquid Castile Peppermint soap. It is easily the quickest way to create your own gentle shampoos. It is cheaper than Dr. Bronners, and it is also already dissolved so you can use it straight as-is without diluting if you choose not to.
# The NatureSilk is used as a solvent for Guar Gum in the Coconut Hibiscus Peppermint Shampoo. What it does is to help the Guar Gum incorporate into the rest of the shampoo without it clumping up. Use glycerin if you don’t have NatureSilk.
# REFRIGERATE if you don’t want to use a preservative
# You may have to shake before each use. But the Guar Gum should keep everything together
#No other shampoo type DIY mix works quite as well as the Coconut Hibiscus Peppermint Shampoo. After washing, my hair is almost always soft and feels clean. I don’t get the gunk and I still get a little shine.
