INCI: Vegetable Glycerin (and) Apis mellifera (Royal Jelly) Extract (and) Gluconolactone (and) Sodium Benzoate
Royal Jelly Extract is said to be a powerhouse ingredient for helping to strengthen the hair and fight against aging skin. Royal Jelly is incredibly rich in protein, vitamins and minerals. In addition it contains over 17 amino acids and is anti-inflammatory.
{snippet adszooleft} Royal Jelly promotes the "synthesis of collagen and elastin" to help firm and tone the skin. Its also very high in Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) and it said to make the hair soft and supple with repeated applications.
The Royal Jelly I had is a liquid, golden tone and easy to incorporate in the water phase of your diy recipe. It only takes a little, with the recommended usage rate (for the one I have) being between 0.5% – 5% of your total product.
That means if you're making something to fit an 8oz jar, that's around 227 grams.
0.5% (or 0.005) x 227 grams = 1 gram (rounded to the nearest whole number)
So to use this product at 0.5% in your DIY recipe, you'll add 1gram of it to the water phase.
To use it at its full strength of 5%:
5% (or 0.05) x 227 grams = 11g (rounded to the nearest whole number)
So to use Royal Jelly extract at 5% in your 8oz jar of product, add 11 grams of it to the water phase.
Try out this simple Royal Jelly conditioner recipe:
- 5% Royal Jelly Extract
- 1% preservative
- 4% BTMS
- 10% oils
- 10% Aloe Vera Juice
- 70% water or tea
For a thicker mix, add Cetyl or Behenyl alcohol to the mix:
- 5% Royal Jelly Extract
- 1% preservative
- 4% BTMS
- 2% Cetyl or Behenyl alcohol
- 10% oils
- 10% Aloe Vera Juice
- 68% water or tea

Hello, can you suggest me a replacement for royal jelly?
In my country I can’t find this product …
Thank you in advance!
Hi! I’m sorry, I don’t know of a 1:1 replacement for Royal Jelly extract. You can use honey, but honey can be sticky and will require a vert good preservation system if adding it into an emulsion.
